Saturday 5th May – Tour De Yorkshire Stage 3 – Richmond to Scarborough
The riders will roll out of Richmond’s cobbled market place and head to Catterick Garrison before the start flag is lowered. They’ll then traverse Wensleydale and continue in an easterly direction at Leyburn, on to Morton on Swale where the first intermediate sprint will be fought out. Northallerton and Thirsk will then provide warm welcomes, and no sooner have the riders crossed into the North York Moors than they’ll be faced with the fearsome Sutton Bank climb. The first contenders over the top there will be rewarded with points in the mountains classification. The action then passes through Helmsley and on to Pickering for a second intermediate sprint. The climbers will be looking to come to the fore again on the Côte de Silpho before the race breezes into Scarborough for the first time. Hugging the east coast, the peloton will continue on to Filey and sample its picturesque seafront before heading inland and back towards Scarborough. The frontrunners will sweep along South Bay, around the castle walls, and onto the now-legendary finish along North Bay.

Scalby Fair, one of the few remaining Village Fairs in the North of England, is a week long festival of entertainment and fun culminating in a large village street fair with over 50 stalls, music, dancing, and children specific attractions.
Thursday 21st June – The Script @ Scarborough Open Air Theatre
The Script are heading to the Yorkshire coast next summer for what promises to be a sensational night at Scarborough Open Air Theatre. The Irish rock band this year scored their fourth Number 1 UK album, since arriving on the scene in 2008, The Script have sold more than 29 million records. Friday 29th June – Steps @ Scarborough Open Air Theatre
Pop superstars Steps are heading to the Yorkshire coast in 2018 for a sensational night at Europe’s largest open-air theatre.
The Brit Award winning band are well and truly back after returning this year with their stunning new album Tears On The Dancefloor and a string of sold out arena shows.
And Lee, Claire, Lisa, Faye and ‘H’ are today delighted to reveal they are bringing their live show to Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Friday June 29th 2018.

Saturday 30th June – Armed Forces Day @ South Bay
Join us in Scarborough to say ‘Thank You’ to the British Armed Forces – past, present and future. This popular family fun day out, now in its ninth year,
takes place on South Bay, Scarborough. This is a free event.
Highlights for this year include:
• The return of the much loved and everybody’s favourite RAF display team -The RED ARROWS!
• To celebrate 60 years of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight – a SPITFIRE display!
• Guess who will be dropping in to say hello – The RAF FALCONS Parachute Display team!
• Scarborough RNLI/HMCG Search & Rescue Helicopter air to sea rescue demo
• New exhibits -WW1 ambulance cycles and a tribute to WW2 Cockleshell Heroes
SANDSIDE hosts the ‘Vintage Village’, with a Vintage Fair featuring over 20 stalls, vintage displays including military vehicles, pre WW2 classic cars and steam transport . There will be nostalgic songs and music to enjoy including Chris Myers 1940’s tribute show, colourful marching bands parades – North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Pipe & Drums Band and Scandinavian youth marching bands.
WEST PIER is the area to experience the Red Arrows flight simulator, military representation and various military themed selling stalls including The Friends of the Red Arrows. Various military adventure activities can be accessed on South Bay Beach including an assault course, laser battles and bungee rides.
FORESHORE Road is the location for over 30 military charity/welfare stalls, forces recruitment and local cadet forces representation including a gun run display. It also includes the Formal Area for ceremonial activities hosted by the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough and civic guests to present special awards and Veterans badges.
The day will end with a Standards, Veterans and Cadets parade organised by the Royal British Legion, headed up by the Band of the Yorkshire Volunteers it will lead into a Service of Thanksgiving including exhortation, last post, one minute silence and reveille at the Formal Area.

FLYING the FLAG ceremony starts the National Armed Forces Day week – the Mayor of the Borough of Scarborough will announce the raising of the special Armed Forces Day flag in a simple ceremony outside the Town Hall, St Nicholas Street, Scarborough YO11 2HG.

Saturday 21st July – Il Divo @ Scarborough Open Air Theatre

Sunday 2nd – Friday 7th September – Scarborough Open Golf Week
Scarborough Golf Week has been established since 1921 and has been attracting golfers to the picturesque North Yorkshire coast year after year, held annually on the first full week in September. The courses holding various competition golf events are Filey GC, North Cliff GC, South Cliff GC and Whitby GC. All courses are on Yorkshires Scarborough coast with fantastic views of the area as you play. Tee times are from 8.00am until 2.30pm daily, with an event charge currently at £17.50 per competition and no green fee. All players must be a member of a golf club and hold an active handicap to participate.
