In a comedy about culture clashes, love, lust and the Lake District, Weekend Breaks sees Godber at his perceptive best, as Martin rediscovers his roots and what it actually means to love your parents; even when you really want to kill them!
Thursday 8th March - Ludwig String Trio @ Stephen Joseph Theatre
Peter Cropper VIOLIN
James Boyd VIOLA
Paul Watkins CELLO
Three of today’s finest chamber musicians indulge their passion for getting to the heart of profound music.
Featuring three composers at their most creative: Beethoven in his Serenade includes a Marcia, a Polacca and one of the first instrumental dumka (lament); this exciting
Trio shows how Hindemith was the greatest German performer-composer in the 20th century; the Divertimento is Mozart at his zenith – as good as any of his quartets, but achieved with only three
players. 7:30pm

Saturday 17th March - Scarborough Symphony Orchestra, Viennese Masters @ Queen Street Methodist Central Hall, 7:30pm
Performance of works by three composers associated with Vienna.
Beginning with an early example of one of Haydn’s ’Sturm und Drang’ works, his Symphony No.26 (Lamentatione), which was written for Easter week in 1768 (or 1769) and
became known for the ‘Christus’ theme used as the opening movement’s second subject.
Then, they are very proud to welcome Ian Belton and Sophie Harris to perform Brahms’s Double Concerto for violin, cello and orchestra. Ian and Sophie are two of the
biggest names in the string world and we are extremely proud to be performing this masterpiece with them. It seemed only fitting to close the concert with Beethoven’s stunningly original
Symphony No.5. This work has to be one of his most analysed and best-loved works, and a pillar of the orchestral repertoire.
Saturday 17th March - The Hollies 50th Annoversary Tour @ The Futurist Theatre, 7:30pm
Still pure Hollies. Still the tight, clean vocal harmonies, meticulously honed, precisely melded.
Though its composition has changed since emerging in the 1960s, a component of the magnificent British Pop Revolution, The Hollies hallmark sound has not
wavered.
