The weekend of the 26th & 27th of April is taken care of as Sci-Fi Scarborough once again invites you all to geek beside the seaside, as the unconventional convention returns for the eleventh consecutive year in the quirky quarter mile that is the beautiful Victorian Scarborough Spa. A large venue with more than enough room for everyone to wander freely, great for families and those with disabilities, with easy access throughout.

Scarborough Fringe is a sister festival to Scarborough Art featuring theatre, music, comedy, spoken word, children’s shows, and a variety of other events and performances.
The Fringe will take over Scarborough for 10 days and will have something for everyone – from residents and families to students and tourists alike.

War breaks out on the lake in the middle of the park when the 20-foot replica boats recreate some serious tensions during the Peasholm Park Naval Battle. The “Battle of Peasholm” lasts for 30 minutes and is produced three times per week on MONDAYS, THURSDAYS AND SATURDAYS at 3:00pm with music starting from 2:30pm.

The skies above the town’s South Bay will host the sights and sounds of the RAF Eurofighter Typhoon FGR4 and the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota. This year the Armed Forces Day event is sponsored by Skipton Building Society. The displays are part of a packed timetable that includes parades, land-based displays, musical performances and family activities.

Scarborough Art is an exciting event which takes place at various venues across Scarborough town centre and beyond, running as a sister festival with the Scarborough Fringe. This is an opportunity to visit different places and spaces around the area and discover work from across the creative community. It will also provide an online platform for people to browse and buy work via The Scarborough Fair website.

The glittering Goldwing Light Parade & Fireworks Display has become a popular tradition for Scarborough, bringing thousands of bike fans from around the UK to the South Bay for a free seafront party every September. Goldwing motorcycles sporting neon lights transport a fleet of riders on a procession around the Marine Drive, illuminating both sides of the shoreline, before the night is closed out with a show-stopping fireworks display.

We are delighted to announce the full line-up for the 2025 Scarborough Jazz Festival! Expect a jam-packed weekend full of top-class jazz acts performing on the Spa Grand Hall stage.

This is a fun day for everyone from experienced surfers to those who have never set foot on a surfboard. The festival takes place between 10am and 4pm in the North Bay. There’ll be surf competitions, taster sessions, colourful displays of vintage VW campers and Beetles lining the promenade plus food and drink stalls to enjoy.
10th - 12th October 2025
Featuring two great rooms, The Ocean Ballroom where the dance floor is kept busy by our Stella line up of DJs. The room features totally Northern Soul, with classic oldies, todays floor fillers and tomorrow’s top sounds in an eclectic mix to please the crowd. By contrast, our downstairs room will feature a mezzanine bar to chill, watch and listen the room from its raised level. Running on Friday and Saturday evenings, head for the floor as our DJs are given a free hand to play records not heard upstairs.

This is a magical evening under the stars by the shimmering lake in Peasholm Park, Scarborough. Staged by Animated Objects and North Yorkshire Council, this is an opportunity for people to come and explore the park as the night draws in. There’ll be illuminated lanterns and dragon boats with the park’s oriental-themed island daubed in colourful lights to create magical reflections in the water as visitors make their way around the lake.

'Autumn Daze' Festival will take place in the oriental themed Peasholm Park on Scarborough's north side and feature a whole range of free, autumn themed activities set against the colourful seasonal backdrop of the park's impressive woodland.
From bush craft demonstrations to storytelling, marshmallow toasting to primitive fire-starting and craft activities to a scavenger hunt, there will be fun, adventure and a feel good factor for all the family.

Scarborough Sparkle is a magical and enchanting Christmas wonderland taking place at the Open Air Theatre. The event is free to attend and is the perfect place to dive into the festive spirit this Christmas and get a head start on your shopping. Launching the event on the Friday night is the spectacular 'Sparkle Lantern Parade' with community groups from all over Scarborough.

This Thursday 21st August, we'll explore Scarborough on a guided walking tour, which includes free time for lunch and a complimentary trip on an open top bus and your ticket for the Naval Warfare at Peasholm Park. Your day starts at 11:00am outside the main entrance to Scarborough's Grand Hotel. Your guided walk with Paddy takes you on a journey through Scarborough's history, including as an important fishing and shipbuilding port, to it becoming the UK's first seaside resort. See the scars of the famous WW1 'Bombardment Of Scarborough', see an actual dinosaur footprint & stand on the spot where the British Seaside Resort was born! There will be free time for you to enjoy your own lunch. Bring a picnic or grab some food from the many outlets near the Toll House at Scarborough Harbour, before your complimentary ride on an Open Top Bus to North Bay. After a guided tour around Peasholm Park & the promenade in North Bay, you get the opportunity to watch the famous naval warfare show on the lake at Peasholm Park, the cost of which is covered in the tour. Start time 3:00pm. Following the show, the tour is over. But your bus ticket means you can use it to get back to South Bay and the start of the tour should you wish! Scarborough’s Brunswick Centre will officially close to the public on 17 September 2025. This marks a major milestone in Scarborough Group's plans to redevelop the site into SQ1, a vibrant new town centre destination. The closure includes the multi-storey car park and public conveniences, as the building will no longer be accessible while preparatory works for redevelopment are underway. Signage will be in place to direct visitors to alternative nearby facilities, including parking at Falconers Road, St Nicholas Parade, and The Palm Court, and public toilets on Foreshore Road. The Brunswick Centre has been a familiar presence in Scarborough’s town centre for more than three decades. Its closure marks an important step toward major new investment in the town, making way for SQ1, a new destination shaped by Scarborough’s character and future ambitions. The redevelopment will attract more visitors and deliver long-term benefits for local people, businesses and the wider community. The closure aligns with the end of the service charge year and follows a period of gradual wind-down, during which they have supported a planned transition by allowing leases to naturally expire and offering flexibility to our longer-term tenants. Many occupiers, including The Fragrance Shop, Holland & Barrett, Toyland and Nomination, have successfully relocated within Scarborough, helping to retain popular brands locally and breathe new life into previously vacant units. The company say they are also pleased that Next is relocating to a larger store on Seamer Road. All tenants have received appropriate notice and support from the company throughout the process. While no businesses within the Brunswick Centre will remain open during construction, Poundland, which is located in a separate building, will continue to trade as normal. Scarborough Group are proud to be leading the redevelopment as part of a broader programme of long-term investment in the town. Mark Jackson, Project Lead said: “The closure of Brunswick is a major step forward, not just for the project, but for the wider regeneration of Scarborough. While change can be disruptive in the short term, this marks the start of a much-needed transformation that will help the town centre match the strength of its visitor appeal. “Scarborough already attracts over 23 million visits a year and outperforms major cities in dwell time and year-round tourism. The challenge has been keeping people in the town centre for longer, and that’s what SQ1 will help deliver. “This is about more than buildings. Naval Warfare One of the world's longest running shows, see manned model warships battle it out with pyrotechnics and commentary. At 3pm every Monday, Thursday and Saturday until the end of August. Live Entertainment You are spoilt for choice in Scarborough, from world-famous acts headlining Scarborough Open Air Theatre to the Spa Orchestra and endless summer entertainment at Scarborough Spa. Scarborough Fair Collection The Scarborough Fair Collection hosts a magnificent working collection of Vintage Cars, Steam Engines, Vintage Fairground Rides and Mechanical Organs topped off with a ‘Mighty’ Wurlitzer Organ in our spacious ballroom. We are set in the scenic grounds of the Flower of May Holiday Park, on the coast road between Scarborough and Filey. Scarborough Footgolf 3 different courses dedicated to FootGolf. The first of their kind in the Scarborough area. Luna Park No visit to Scarborough is complete without a visit to the fabulous Luna Park. Scarborough's Cliff Tramways Scarborough has two remaining cliff tramways, both in South Bay, including the oldest cliff tramway in the UK at Scarborough Spa, now 150 years old. The other, Cliff Tramway next to the Grand Hotel, is 140 years old. Oliver's Mount Racing Oliver's Mount Road Racing Circuit is unique and hugely popular. There are events throughout the year when the country park becomes a motorcycling racing circuit. North Yorkshire Moors Railway One of the longest and most scenic steam railways in the country, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway winds its way through forests and moorland valleys between Pickering and Whitby taking in Levisham, Goathland and Grosmont along the way. Donkey Rides A tradition that continues with generation after generation enjoying a donkey ride on the beach. Find donkeys in South Bay in Scarborough. Rotunda Museum Opened in 1829, the Rotunda Museum is one of the world’s first purpose-built museums and was built to a design suggested by William Smith. The interior, with its fascinating Georgian gallery, features a frieze showing the geology of the local coastline designed by Smith’s nephew, John Phillips. The original cases tell the history of the museum and they explore the stories of the nineteenth century Scarborough Philosophical Society which brought the collections together. When you visit you can also learn about fossils, the remarkable 11,000-year-old artefacts from our Star Carr Collection, as well as coming face to face with the wonderful creatures which once called Yorkshire home, in the Ancient Seas Gallery. Scarborough Art Gallery Scarborough Art Gallery houses the borough’s permanent collection of fine art, which has grown through gifts, bequests and purchases since its beginnings in 1947, reflecting the vibrant mix of the community and its cultural heritage. Walking The Coast The Cleveland Way comes right through Scarborough, offering some of the very best cliff trails anywhere in the country. The full walk is 110 miles from Helmsley to Filey but you can enjoy the coastal paths either side of Scarborough, going as far as you want. There are numerous options, be it a circular walk or getting trains or buses back to your start point. This coastline has everything from dramatic cliffs to hidden coves with waterfalls. Sea Watch Station Spot bottlenose dolphins, porpoise and over summer Minke Whale from the new Sea Watch Station on Marine Drive.
