Nearby Filey came 6th.
Brighton can claim to be the UK's best beach based on Tripadvisor reviews. But as we all know, you can't make a decent sandcastle on a pebble beach!
Bournemouth came 2nd, followed by Camber Sands, Weymouth and Gorleston-on-Sea.
Just up the coast, Whitby came in at 22nd position.
